STAFF EDUCATION

Varied Shifts: 6 am-6 pm or 6 pm-6am, includes weekend & holiday rotation

The Resource Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the delivery of safe and reliable patient care in coordination with the healthcare team. The primary role of the Registered Nurse is the execution of providing required care and evaluation of care given. Responsibilities include: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the care given to achieve optimum patient outcomes. Performance of these responsibilities requires critical thinking skills and skills based on principles of psychological, social, physical and biological sciences that utilize the registered nurse scope of practice. This position will use specialized training and experience to serve as a resource nurse and flex across multiple hospital departments, such as: Emergency, Medical Surgical, and Ambulatory Services and float in between these departments to meet staffing needs and influx in patient volume.

 EDUCATION and TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

o   Graduate of an accredited school with a valid State of Iowa licensure as a Registered Nurse required, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

o   Proficient in English, verbal and written communication skills and computer skills required.

o   Basic Life Support (BLS) according to the standards of the American Heart Association.

o   Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) will be successfully obtained within 1 year of hire.

o   Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) will be successfully completed within 1 year of hire.

o   Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) will be successfully completed within 1 year of hire.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

o   One year prior professional nursing experience in an acute environment required, three years of experience in acute or emergency environment preferred.

o   Demonstrated clinical competence in relevant area of nursing practice with a concentration in emergency nursing

o   Must have the ability to demonstrate self-confidence and positive attitude toward self and others. Maintains commitment and enthusiasm to goal achievement.
