Hospital Per Diem Med Surg Nurse
The Hospital Per Diem Med Surg Nurse provides per diem nursing care and services to acutely ill patients on a medical-surgical unit. This position is responsible for conferring with physicians, developing treatment plans, evaluating nursing indicators, documenting patient information, and administering medications and treatments.
Job Responsibilities:
• Observe, assess and document patient conditions, including vital signs, mental health and physical activities
• Administer drugs as ordered, ensuring reconciliation of drug administration with patient EMR
• Collaborate and confer with other healthcare professionals for interdisciplinary treatment plans
• Provide direct patient care, instruction, guidance and treatment
• Monitor patient pain, responding with appropriate interventions and medications
• Develop and maintain patient education materials
• Perform diagnostic tests, collect and process specimens with accuracy
• Participate in patient, family and staff education
• Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with climate leadership values
Job Requirements:
• Current Registered Nursing license and/or certifications
• 2+ years of professional nursing experience in Acute Care setting
• Solid knowledge of professional nursing principles, procedures, standards and techniques
